Tortilla Chips, a little bit of salsa, guacamole, and some melted cheese on top. Who would not like that besides the cold beer beside it.
The original tortilla chips are made from clean corn, which is cooked to a paste and rolled out over a conveyer. After being rolled out a blade cuts out the tortilla shape and the basis for a tortilla chips is there. The tortilla is burned, cooked, seasoned, and packed for your lovely evening snack.
GDO fabricated a system for cooing the corn to its perfection, after which our partner JC Ford takes over and fabricates the tortilla production line. The cooking system consist of one pre-cooking kettle that cooks the corn for a certain period of time. After being pre-cooked the corn is pumped in to one of eight holding tanks, where they remain for a longer period of time. Finally, the corn is pumped to a skin removal system and is grinded to a paste.
The system consists of a series of kettles that are all connected over a complicated piping system with automatic valves. Over the central Siemens PLC control the operator is able to control the valves and send the corn to the different soaking kettles.
